"May it sound very weird but these are our very best years." Benedek Szabó is one of the most influential and popular poets, singers, musicians, songwriters of the new generation, who is going to give a huge concert with his mates on this night.
Szabó Benedek és a Galaxisok
Originally from Baja, Southern Hungary, Benedek Szabó had to wait until the great Hungarian lo-fi boom of 2011 to propel his noisepop project Zombie Girlfriend towards success – and a couple of gigs abroad. Findig his way back to his Hungarian singer-songwriter roots, Szabó released his first solo album on his 26th birthday, in the Spring of 2013. Kapuzárási Piknik (Torschlusspicnic) is a perfect example of the generational genre, documenting the fears, doubts and desires of today’s twentysomethings, accompanied by music that just as easily recalls the works of late great Hungarian singer-songwriter Tamás Cseh as Neutral Milk Hotel. During live performances the jangly, yet unnervingly wavering songs are performed by Szabó Benedek és a Galaxisok (Benedek Szabó and the Galaxies) consisting of Szabó, pianist Péter Futó and drummer Soma Bradák.
