Post-industrial British misery punk – High Vis at A38 Ship

Since their beginnings, High Vis’s progressive hardcore has been continuously evolving, revealing new and exciting layers of the band’s sound. Their latest album, Guided Tour, reaches new heights, traversing a wide range of styles from confident street punk to jangling indie to shoegaze-leaning spoken word, delivering 11 memorable tracks. High Vis will bring this energy to Budapest on June 14 at the A38 Ship.

Since emerging on the scene, High Vis has been refining their progressive hardcore sound, incorporating elements of post-punk, Britpop, neo-psychedelia, and even the Manchester groove, striking a balance between catchy melodies and furious mosh pits.

The band released their debut album, No Sense No Feeling, in 2019, which went beyond the hardcore scene while creating what they describe as “post-industrial British misery punk.” Their 2022 follow-up, Blending, features tracks like “Talk For Hours” and “Trauma Bonds.” The album further expands High Vis’s musical universe and gives vocalist Sayle the space to open up in his lyrics, discussing social issues and political hardships while offering hope to listeners.

Their latest release, Guided Tour (2024), sees High Vis charging toward new heights full of energy. The album was recorded in just a few weeks at London’s Holy Mountain Studios with producer Jonah Falco and engineer Stanley Gravett. The result is dynamic and precise. Its 11 tracks span the full spectrum of contemporary guitar music, shaped by shared experiences, camaraderie, and societal tensions. From confident street punk through jangling indie and heavy alternative rock to shoegaze-infused spoken word, the band’s chemistry allows them to make every style distinctly their own.

High Vis will bring this energy to the A38 Ship on June 14. Tickets go on sale on March 27 at 11:00 AM via www.livenation.hu and www.funcode.hu.
