Slow Burn Drifters (AT)

“Splicing frames of Alternative-Indie, Gothic Americana, and Dream Pop, into emotionally charged songs that might just be the soundtrack to your life.”

Slow Burn Drifters marks the latest chapter in the musical evolution of American singer-songwriter Matt Boroff, who performs under the alias Ray Vale. Over a decades-spanning career that has seen him open for notable acts such as Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Calexico, and Kyuss, his work has explored terrain from post-punk and desert-tinged soundscapes to ambient textures and intimate performances, grounded in a cinematic approach to songwriting.

After relocating from Northern New Jersey to Austria in the early 2000s, Boroff formed Matt Boroff & the Mirrors, building a devoted following across Europe through extensive touring and a series of releases that evolved from raw, guitar-driven energy into more atmospheric, narrative-driven work. Subsequent solo albums, including Grand Delusion and Beautiful Machine, further expanded that scope, incorporating orchestral arrangements, electronic textures, and collaborations with Alain Johannes, Jack Irons, and Mark Lanegan.

Boroff formed Slow Burn Drifters with pianist Violet Booth in 2024, performing under the alias Ray Vale. The project combines a shared interest in music, film, and aesthetics into a restrained sound shaped by atmosphere, tension, and emotional depth, carried into live performances that continue to evolve. The deluxe release of Golden, featuring several previously unreleased tracks, is set for Spring 2026.

Musica Moralia

musica moralia’s (Éda Meggyesházi) music bears a distinct atmosphere; a creation in the experimental, post-folk sphere. In her own words she plays silent noise mostly on dulcimer, composing contemporary sounds on this ancient instrument.

She has been in the music scene in Hungary, often in Germany and the Netherlands. Her first LP Hell is Coming Home is an intimate and highly personal album consisting of songs written and performed on the dulcimer and electric-organ, which put her to prestigious festivals like Fekete Zaj, and sharing stages with artists like Tanya Tagaq (CAN) and Agnes Obel (DK).

After a few years of silence musica moralia is releasing her second LP Only Salt on 25th September, her live performances are complemented with a band, alongside Éda Meggyesházi (dulcimer, organ, voice), Peter Jakab (guitar, bass, synth) and Márton Király (drums) will contribute.

The event is part of the MOL-New Europe Stage – Voices of Emerging Europe series, supported by the MOL-New Europe Foundation.
