The Devil's Trade, Den Der Hale (SE)
The Devil's Trade
The Devil's Trade, the solo project of singer-songwriter Dávid Makó, has had a spectacular international career, being one of the few Hungarian bands to have more than ten European tours behind them, performing at the Roadburn, Brutal Assault, Hellfest and Desert Fest festivals. They have toured with artists from their scene such as Alcest, Amenra and Der Weg Einer Freiheit. In November 2025, the band's fifth, new album, Nincs széműtelen szép, was released by the German Pelagic Records (The Ocean, Mono, Bruit≤, God Is An Astronaut, Whores.).
Makó's acoustic, alternative folk music world opened up and deepened from album to album, getting closer and closer to the post-metal genre, and then 2023's Vidékek vanank idebenn was born with orchestral arrangements, with the help of his old musician partner, Gáspár Binder (Cudi Purci Booking, Corbata Production, Choke City, Prosectura, Stereochrist, HAW, Torn From Earth, Dog Attack). Nincs sznyetetlen szép became the next stop on this journey, a darker, more complex and intense album than the previous materials. It was inspired by the two weeks between a death and a birth. An unprocessable mixture of grief and gratitude, curse and blessing. The album was once again recorded in their own studio, named Templom, with Szabolcs Szűcs (Superbutt) as sound engineers, and Márton Szabó (The Devil's Trade, Igor) as producer. The mastering was done by Nikita Kampard (Der Weg Einer Freiheit).
“One of the leading motifs of the album is weight, which we can interpret as a burden that buries us, but at the same time, as soon as we can put it down, we can almost rise from the ground. The album itself is both the carrying and the putting down of this weight.” – says Dávid about the album.
Den Der Hale (SE)
Swedish band Den Der Hale is an enigmatic, boundary-pushing force in post-psych, crafting a distinctive sound that fuses folk-infused kraut, gritty psychedelia, and post-rock into an immersive sonic landscape. Their music blends itinerant rhythms, atonal melodies, heavy effects, layers of noise, and driving bass lines, all connected by an underlying thread that brings coherence to the seeming chaos. Atmospheric, intense, and thought-provoking, Den Der Hale creates a vivid musical world that draws listeners into the deeper terrains of human existence and our relationship with the natural world.
