When was your first time at a Budapest Bar concert? Who invited you? Why did you come? How did you feel? Do you remember? Imagine, it's been 18 years since our first album was released and 18 years since our first concert!
The band, which originally formed for a CD, has given nearly 1700 concerts, toured several countries, performed at the most important Hungarian concert venues, released 12 albums, covered more than 200 songs and we can say that it enjoys unbroken success. But the first album recording in the studio and the second on the A38 Ship will remain an eternal memory. Many favorites from these albums remain, but quite a few songs have fallen out of the repertoire. This evening we will only select from our first two albums, recall the beginnings and also bring out the songs that we played a long time ago.
This evening, in addition to the band, we will be joined by the old team: Dóri Behumi, Bori Rutkai, Frenk, György Ferenczi, András Keleti, László Kollár - Klemencz, Krisztián Szűcs and our great new singer, Barbara Schoblocher (Blahaluisiana).
Come, let's reminisce about the old big A38 parties, let's move the Ship together!
Budapest Bár has become one of the most popular bands in Hungary with its gypsy arrangements of heart-wrenching and heart-warming songs. The band owes its magical appeal to the excellent musicians and cult singers of Hungarian rock music. Budapest Bar, which was originally born on a single record, has been operating with twelve singers in a completely unique line-up for 15 years - perhaps that is why it has become the most sought-after concert band, a regular performer at festivals and main stages. The roots of the unique style that has become the Budapest Bar's trademark go back to the world of Budapest coffee houses in the 1920s and 30s. Well-known and popular songs are reinterpreted on the basis of gypsy music, combined with elements of jazz, pop, rock, klezmer and many other musical genres.
The original intention of the head and founder of Budapest Bárt, Róbert Farkas, was precisely to give new impetus to the genre of gypsy music in cafés, keeping alive and renewing the old traditions. Thanks to the band, long-forgotten tunes have once again become part of the public consciousness and the culture of young people. Many old songs were dusted off, forgotten ones were revived, well-known ones were dressed in new clothes, and recently many new songs were also written. Ages, cultures, styles and age groups meet in the production - perhaps that is why both young and old love the band, which has now become a multi-generational favorite.
The Budapest Bar zigzags between musical styles and takes you out of everyday life.
Joyful music for open ears!
