Double anniversary doom celebration in September at A38 - Wall Of Sleep turns 25 this year, and Nevergreen will commemorate their breakthrough album 'Az éj smeme' on the occasion of its thirtieth anniversary at a joint concert on September 12.
The band Wall Of Sleep, which received the Fonogram Award for the hard rock / metal album of the year in 2026, was formed in 2001 after its predecessor, the now cult-status Mood, disbanded. The driving force behind the band was Mood guitarist Sándor Füleki, who was joined by well-known figures from the Hungarian metal underground. Their initial style was defined by the doom metal familiar from the previous band, in which the influences of great international role models (Black Sabbath, Trouble) were also present. Later, after member changes, Wall Of Sleep's musical palette expanded with additional colors, and on their latest album, classic hard rock and metal are represented at least as prominently as the initial doom and sludge.
Members:
Zoltán Bátky 'BZ' - vocals, Sándor Füleki - guitar, Balázs Kemencei - guitar, Gergely Turbok - bass guitar, Szabolcs Szolcsányi - drums
Nevergreen, based in Vojvodina and led by Miklós Matláry and Bob Macura, has been the most influential band in Hungarian gothic-doom metal for more than three decades. The album "Az éj smeje" released in 1996, which is 30 years old this year, marked a real turning point in their career, and has now become a cult piece of the genre. The band's name is associated with classic materials such as the debut "Game Over" or "Ámok" - their latest, fourteenth album "Harag és remény" was released in 2024 under the title "Harag és remény" by H-Music Hungary.
