Maluridé

The Maluridé formation was formed in the spring of 2020, and they have been playing together in their current lineup since the spring of 2022. The band's musical genre is alternative pop, but with their lyrical, text-centered vocals, they also select from the toolbox of classical harmonies. They were included in the top 10 songs in the pop category at the Telekom Electronic Beats 2022 SELECTOR competition, and their first album was presented at the Hungarian Music House in October 2023.

Ahead of their show at Brighton showcase festival The Great Escape, burgeoning dream pop outfit GARDENS released a new single “Good This Way”. The song was written by Luca Celine Müller as a “bittersweet reminiscence” of experiencing love in your teens.

“Being fed romantic movies with happy endings throughout adolescence has led me to a distorted, romanticized view on love,” Müller says. “Which got shattered as soon as the first heartbreak hit. The opening lines describe a real situation in which I felt confronted with someone else’s heartbreak that I had originally caused, thereby shattering his belief in our everlasting love. While reflecting on the bursting of that bubble this song is also a way of coming to terms with the fact that love comes and goes, and that it is “good this way” after all.”

According to Müller, the song’s production tells as much a story as her lyrics, its crescendoing arrangements underlining the sudden loss of this twee, adolescent idea of love. “We wanted the audio production to reflect the storyline and have something of a more dramatic build up towards the end, to really underline the loss of this naive innocence. The song takes you through highs and lows, through dreamy parts that mimic the thought of never ending love in younger days, up to the finale with fuzzy guitars, raging synth arpeggios and more distorted, more emotional vocals. The fuzzy bass that’s present early on creates tension throughout the song.”

Last year, GARDENS released their debut LP Flaws via Siluh Records to great critical acclaim, chronicling trials of mental health, the rites of passage of youth and the dizzying fogs of heartbreak. GARDENS is the quartet of Luca Celine Müller, Peter Mathis, Patrick Stieger and Laura Keiblinger. The group established their lush blend of indie pop, 60s psych folk and dream pop.
