After David Bowie's unexpected death in 2016, the luminaries of the Hungarian music scene joined forces on a special mission: to keep alive the legacy of the most influential artist in pop culture. The memorial concert, which was originally intended to be a one-off event, has become one of the most popular traditions of the A38 Hajó over the years. This year, however, the musicians are taking an unexpected turn: they will show the more intimate side of Bowie's oeuvre in the context of an exclusive acoustic concert. The concept of this year's concert breaks with the traditionally loud, rock-like sound of previous years. On the 10th anniversary of the artist's death, the emphasis is now on the clear structure of the songs, the depth of the lyrics and the direct atmosphere. "Bowie's songs work even when accompanied by just a guitar or a piano. In fact, this is when their genius really comes through. The acoustic instrumentation gives us and the audience the opportunity to get close to him in a way that to these compositions like never before," the performing musicians write.
