Szabó Benedek és a Galaxisok

Szabó Benedek és a Galaxisok

Originally from Baja, Southern Hungary, Benedek Szabó had to wait until the great Hungarian lo-fi boom of 2011 to propel his noisepop project Zombie Girlfriend towards success – and a couple of gigs abroad. Findig his way back to his Hungarian singer-songwriter roots, Szabó released his first solo album  on his 26th birthday, in the Spring of 2013. Kapuzárási Piknik (Torschlusspicnic) is a perfect example of the generational genre, documenting the fears, doubts and desires of today’s twentysomethings, accompanied by music that just as easily recalls the works of late great Hungarian singer-songwriter Tamás Cseh as Neutral Milk Hotel. During live performances the jangly, yet unnervingly wavering songs are performed by Szabó Benedek és a Galaxisok (Benedek Szabó and the Galaxies) consisting of Szabó, pianist Péter Futó and drummer Soma Bradák.
