Meat Katie

Meat Katie (UK)

Mark Pember who chose this excellent nickname was infected by hiphop- and b-boy-culture already back in the eighties (young Mark started off his career as a recognized graffiti artist). In the early nineties he started playing music, but not on turntables, but a bass guitar live, with bands like Trafalgar, Sandladder, Ceasefire. But soon after the first success with the vinylsturned up he left these bands and started producing under the name Meat Katie his typical bigbeat house-breakbeat hybrids.

After a few years and two album releases(Off the Bone, Long to Belong) Meat Katie became one of the greatest and most wanted breakbeat-producers. His unique sound melting together house, techno, breakbeat, electro and funk through a perfect technique, his heavy pumping and electronic peaks – all together make Meat Kati one of the most all-round DJs and producers of Britain.
