Bitumen Beat

Bitumen Beat (CZ)

Once upon a time... Sur la route de Louviers... The story of the Bitumen Beat begins quite similar as this old French song. In a small distant village Bagak had been living old road mender Kalo Bitumen. As he himself all his kinsmen worked for the Globalroads Ltd., patching up local potholed roads and singing along as they laboured much like folks did back then. But some of the Bitumen tribe's children were not satisfied with this way of life. After they got a view of a big city for the first time, restlessness had settled at the bottom of their souls. One night they were sitting around the camp fire as they did every night, singing old-fashioned songs and telling dead and burried stories. The stars high above were shining brighter than ever so it was possible to read in them like in an open book. Gejza, who thought that he can understand that language, raised his head and explained to these unsatisfied rebels what a glory and amazing future is prepared for them. The same night they decided to leave their homes for the big city and set up a rock'n'roll band. As they said, they did.
Maybe you have never noticed, but people of the Bitumen tribe living all around us, have one ancient tradition: from time out of mind all young musicians starting to play do share a common name Terne Čhave (Young Boys). This name is granted to them until they pass a trial period - they leave home for the world to gain a knowledge and experience like their fathers did as well as master traditions of their own tribe. It has been the same story with our Terne Čhave: they have travelled the world, recorded several albums and when they grew up, they returned the name Terne Čhave back to the tribe. Simultaneously they gained the right to use the tribal name the Bitumen.
During these years their music have absorbed the dirt and glitter of filthy rock clubs, smoky pubs, shiny dancefloors and big festivals, which by analogy is being manifested by grimy sound of analog synthesizers, distortions, compressors and overdriven tube amps. Meanwhile also members of other tribes have established themselves within the band. But no technology, cosmetics or linguistics can wipe off years of treating with asphalt and tear apart roots of human being. The outcome is therefore ecstatic sonic experience (they say “music”) in which regardless precise yet cold electronics the blood, sweat, tears and laughter and also hot lava of old Bitumen's traditions are scrambling towards surface – in two words - Bitumen Beat!
