The Ferocious Ethno-Punk Music from the Shamans of Ancient, Eurasian Grassland!
The Huns are back - the VÁGTÁZÓ CSODASZARVAS debuted in 2005 revitalizing the frenetic shamanistic folk music of the ancient Huns. Atilla Grandpierre, founder of the ensemble, became the worldwide icon of ancient Hungarian ethno-shaman music in the group Vágtázó Halottkémek (abbr. VHK, cca. Galloping Coroners), which had acquired its reputation as the best shaman-punk band ever.
In this new group, Atilla fulfilled his old wish to play his music on folk instruments, and invited some of the best Hungarian folk virtuosos. The band now consists of eleven members, playing on tambura, cister (ancient Hungarian lute, lyre), the Hungarian bagpipe, tárogató (Hungarian double reed instrument), the Csángó drums (ancient Hungarian shaman-drums), violin, and double bass — all together fusing to create what is by turns a ferocious and enrapturing sound. The two distinguishing properties of the band are the cosmic transcendence of the spirituality of their music, and the extraordinary energy of the performance. Surely, Atilla Grandpierre is one of the most energetic and hypnotic performers ever seen on stage.
Bordó Sárkány Old Music Band plays medieval music, mostly from the XI-XVI centuries. The group was founded in 2010. We play medieval and folk music from all across Europe, and also own songs. We use medieval bagpipes, drums and lot of folkore instruments as well.
