Trigon (MD)
Though Trigon was formed back in 1992, its members had to wait for a decade to gain world fame. Trigon that mixes Balkan folk music with jazz, plays a unique music that can be hardly connected to anything else known, that made them the most important East-European group after the year 2000. They have become the stars of international jazz festivals, where the audience first stands stiff surprised hearing their virtuosity and outstanding sound only to burst out in an incrazed cheering later.
The soul of the Trigon is Anatol Stefanet, who is the only constant member in this constantly changing band. The formation was a trio in the beginning - that’s where the name comes from - but after numerous changes it is a quartet at present. Traditional Balkan instruments, folk music influences, the freedom and the virtuosity of jazz.: the Trigon will make you crazy.
Line up
Anatol Stefanet: viola
Vali Borgheanu: reeds, vocals
Dorel Burlacu: keyboards
Gari Tverdohleb: drums, percussion
Albums
Trigon, 1994
Oglinda, 1998
Free Gone, 2000
The Voice of My Earth, 2001
7 Steps, 2005
