The Poster Boy

The Poster Boy

The Poster Boy is a Budapest-based project born out of bar-side chat between Imre Poniklo (Amber Smith) and Noel R. Mayer (The Walrus).

During the summer of 2011 the two veterans of the Budapest Indie scene joked about putting together some songs, and within a few months they found themselves with a band and an album. With Michael Zwecker on drums (Bastiaan, ex-Kispál) and relative newcomer Bence Fülöp on bass (Kamikaze Scotsmen), The Poster Boy has put together eight songs that stand together as an exploration of classic themes of love, loss, and the search for happiness. The mini-LP, entitled 'Things We Had Time For', hearkens back to the days when bands thought in terms of albums, not just singles. Each song on 'Things We Had Time For' is thematically connected. 'Things We Had Time For' is a song cycle - a loose journey that carries the listener through a series of emotions and events featuring a lightly painted boy and girl.

The Poster Boy is a true songwriting partnership, with music for 'Things We Had Time For' coming from Poniklo and Mayer, and lyrics coming from Zwecker and Mayer. Things We Had Time For reflects the members' common love of classic pop music, with the overall sound and approach being unapologetically pop. There is no reinvention of music; only good songs.
