Talamba ütőegyüttes

Talamba Percussion Group was founded in 1999. The four percussion artists made friends as being students of Liszt Ferenc College of Music. During their studies, the similarity of their creativity and their ideas made the group very successful. Their aim is to help people get to know and come to like both classical and popular music with the help of percussion instruments. The music of Talamba is the music of the 21st century: music with great variety and with different genres living together in harmony. The members feel at home in playing different styles of music while they use humorous elements, too. During their shows they go around the world of music both in space and time. It’s important for them to play their own compositions which recall the music of different nations- such as Hungarian folk music, Balkan tunes or African rhythms. At the same time some of their compositions are rooted in classical music. Moreover, we can find in Talamba’s repertory jazz classics, crossover or contemporary pieces. We can often hear Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition or Bach’s fugues  in unique instrumentation or rewriting. Besides music, the view is also outstanding during the concerts as the artists sound hundreds of instruments in each performance.
