Sadant
Sadant was based on the songs written and produced by Peter Kunert. After meeting the lyric writer and rapper Mc Zeek, the music met the words, and an unusual plan was born. Switching off the time factor, the process started with collecting the tracks of which the lyrics were inspired by. Instead of writing and recording an album as fast as possible, the idea was to come up with something genuine and real, the kind of music that would work many years later as well, no matter how long it takes to make it. When the song writer David Lamm has joined the band, a long and creative period began. Writing a song was more like a seance or some kind of a therapy, it had nothing to do with working frightened by deadlines. It swiftly became evident that it was going to be a long term project. Having the complete lack of any intensions to make it a must, we’ve never written a word unless we felt like. The writers and co-composers didn’t meet each other, they added their part one by one working only with Peter Kunert. Every single word and all of the music ideas were born at the home studio. This method was quite strange and funny, sometimes months have passed between one’s idea and the reflection of someone else. Sadant became a love child of musicians from different subcultures speaking a common language. The band has been enlarged with vocalist Kata Peto, co-composer and pianist Tamas Keresztes, drummer Barna Szigeti, and sample player Zoltan Kovacs. The first step was making a record that wouldn’t make us sick in ten years, the second was the hardest one, performing half-electronic music entirely live on acoustic instruments, with the least possible samplers, sequencers, sound modules or any electronic devices, using only a single keyboard to play seven seconds long samples in a couple of tracks. By the end of the process, a unique album was born through the long way from the instrumental tracks entirely written and produced by Peter Kunert to the final version of the songs with vocals, and music ideas by the co-writers. Sadant became a mixture of trip hop, jazz, hip hop, downtempo, filled with elements of reggae, dubstep, grunge, classical music, and all genres that the members are influenced by.
