Rock the Boat - Punk Rock Minifest

Rock the Boat - Punk Rock Minifest

While those who can afford to visit every festival this summer will be risking their health with the combination of sunburn, fast food and portable toilets, the rest of us can have fun as well. The A38 brings together six punk rock/punk pop guitar bands for a one day mini festival starting on Saturday afternoon.

The event opens at 4:00pm with the not to be missed PILLANTÁS, a Szeged based band who perform Blink 182 cover songs in an excellent fashion. If you loved the hits like ‘What’s My Age Again’ and ‘All The Small Things’, you won’t be disappointed. These guys are akin to an all singing, all dancing greatest hits compilation. They take it seriously too, even down to using the same guitars that Blink 182 themselves used to create that unmistakable sound.

Having jumped around and relived some great memories, you get a great mix of bands from the same genre, with IDIOTSIDE providing pop punk tunes in a fashionable manner, followed by LINK-X with a harder rock sound, before ROTTEN TOMATOES offer some old school riffs. The much travelled NIKSON are next up and offer a set of pace-changing songs to keep you on your toes.

Headlining the event are REFLECTED. Nearly seven years on and the Salgótarján based band that singer/guitarist Gál Gergely formed, has seen the release of two albums released as far and wide as the USA and Japan, as well as an endless programme of playing concerts around the world. Their combination of melodic pop punk and metal has a sound which would be at home on a movie soundtrack of an American teenage college movie as much as on MTV.

Fellow guitarist Kocsis Kornél provides the riffs and backing vocals along with bass player Vofély Bence, while Kováts Marci keeps it all together on the drums. Plans for later this summer include a tour in the UK, spreading their word further.

The boys guarantee a tight sounding live experience with catchy tunes and sing along choruses...easy on the ear and hard on your legs, you are sure to be dancing and jumping along to ‘Welcome to California’ as well as old favourites like ‘Popcorn’. See you at the front!!
