Pat Appleton (D)
The Berlin-resided singer of Liberian ancestry Pat Appleton broke into the European nu jazz/lounge scene in 1999, when she turned up on the De-Phazz’s second album. Pit Baumgartner, the brainstormer of this electro-lounge band soon recognized the outstanding possibilities of Pat’s voice, and so De-Phazz became the most famous representative of its style. Pat Appleton’s voice ranges from a harsh childish strength to erotic depths, by which she perfectly counterpoints the other singer’s, Karl Frierson’s funky soulful voice. On De-Phazz’s following albums (Death by Chocolate, Daily Lama, Natural Fake) Pat sang in numerous roles, from incrazed backing vocals, through dancing mambos to slow soul-ballads all perfectly. Besides this, she is an amazing performer and a beautiful woman. After her last year’s concert of stunning succes she will perform again with her band of Hungarian excellent young musicians on the A38 Ship.
