Lola Marsh

Lola Marsh (IL)

As they return to Budapest after two years, Lola Marsh, Israel’s most popular indie-folk band has released its debut album. Guitarist-songwriter Gil Landau and singer Yael Shoshana Cohen, who was a finalist of Israel’s Voice, sing about therapy for childhood fears, the thousand shades of friendship, and nostalgia.

Their colourful music bears various influences from Sufjan Stevens, through Fleet Foxes, to Édith Piaf: pleasant melodies, fine ambiences, and a distinctive singing voice are the key components of Lola Marsh’s musical world. The long-awaited debut album did bring them international recognition, and this appearance at Café Budapest will probably be one of the Tel Aviv duo’s last club concerts for quite some time.
