Grencsó Kollektíva Hétköznap feat. Lewis Jordan (USA) & Barabás Lőrinc
The saxophone and flute-player and group-leader István Grencsó started his career in 1979 with the Masina group, then continued work in different formation with Mihály Dresch and György Szabados. In 1985 he founded the Grencsó Kollektíva. This formation is his main activity at the moment, besides which he regularly performs with the Makám, Kampec Doloress, Budbudas and other groups.
His free music spirituality, his way of thinking independent of styles and fashions, his original way of composing and his special attitude to his instruments make him one of the most important in his field in Hungary. Some of his most remarkable and favourite works are those compositions of his, in which he reinterpreted the chansons, waltzes and songs of the sixties.
The Grencsó Kollektíva is not really a group, a band or an orchestra, much more a free unity of musicians. The tight trio line up is often expanded, changed, enriched by other musicians too.
