Folkfree

Folkfree

The idea of the Folkfree band was created by Gabor Hajas in 2003. His aim was to create a unique style based on traditional Hungarian virtue with a modern harmonization. They started off with the bassguitar player Andras Koroknay in an instrumantal way. Folkfree is always changing, and they reached their own style in the past few years. If you are listening to a Folkfree track what you can recognize at once is the sound of the hurdy-gurdy and the traditional Hungarian folk music assorts well with drum and bass, dub, reggae and other electronic styles. This mixture is the one and only `Folkfree style`. The band alive is a boomblast, with nasty beats, heavy sound, and an audience based show, with keeping the legs moving all night long.
The band played all the main festivals and clubs around Hungary, and the countries in central Europe (Poland, Slovakia...). In autumn 2007, they organized a mini-tour with mc SirReal (Freestylers UK) and MC KW Arms (UK). Because of these gigs Folkfree and the guest mc's started building up a close relationship. The most important thing in their cooperation is that they are making songs together with the band, so its much more than a live featuring. The first result of this relationship is a new track with them, called `Kimentem`. After the success of the 2008 spring concerts with them, Folkfree toured around the summer festivals under the production name: `Folkfree ft Mc SirReal & KW Arms`.
