Veronika Harcsa is undoubtedly one of the most influential, most active and most prolific figures of Hungarian jazz. The Újbuda Jazz Festival proudly presents her latest, incredibly exciting project, Next.Ape, based in Belgium. The four-member team also has two Belgian and one Luxembourgish member in addition to Veronika Harcsa, of whom Antoine Pierre drummer and bandleader may already be familiar with the Hungarian audience, since he plays in the Harcsa Veronika-Gyémánt Bálint Quartet too.
Next.Ape was born at the joint intersection of Radiohead, Damon Albarn, Modeselektor and Miles Davis, with powerful and sharp grooves to create their own music world. At their concerts snapping snares are complemented by strong Moog-basses and distorted guitars. Ultimately, Veronika Harcsa's charismatic voice and special improvisation solutions round off the rich sound and the incredibly exciting musical story that the listener will be experiencing. The Belgian-Luxembourgish-Hungarian Quartet released its debut EP at the beginning of 2019, and are currently working on their first album.
