Lisa Morgenstern

Lisa Morgenstern (D/BLG)

Ethereal vibes, glacial elegance and deep emotions line up in the art of Lisa Morgenstern, who returns to A38 Ship on the 6th of October at CAFe Budapest Festival. After the 2018 Piano Day, the singer-pianist arrives to Budapest to present the songs of her second studio album, Chameleon. The 2019 record, orchestrated for piano and synthesizers, opens up dramatic perspectives with both classical and pop music pattern among it’s influences.

Born in Bulgaria and now residing in Berlin, Morgenstern drew inspiration from various sources for this album. Recorded in collaboration with Berlin based, Argentinian producer and cellist Sebastian Plano, Chameleon’s nine ambitious tracks showcase her extraordinary, multi-octave-spanning voice on a collection that combines glacial elegance, baroque synth-pop, poignantly atmospheric electronica, and expressive piano instrumentals.

It is no surprise at all that Chameleon presents us so many faces of piano music and singing: the daughter of two orchestral musicians, Morgenstern – who can also be found singing in Berlin’s leading Bulgarian Women’s Choir – was exposed to music from a very young age and displayed a natural affinity towards the piano. She also trained as a professional ballet dancer as a teenager, something that’s lent her music a unique elegance and poise. With the combination of all this, she established a reputation for her intensely emotional performance style, what the Hungarian fans will be able to experience (again) this October.
