Dumbsaint is a four-piece instrumental band from Sydney, Australia, combining cinematic music with original, synced, narrative film projections; written, filmed and edited entirely by the band itself.

Utilising the screen on stage as an integral 5th member, the band seeks to present an 'installation' where sound and image interact in unexpected ways. Dumbsaint create a live performance in which each song is a short film, and each screening a musical set piece.

Formed in 2009, the band quickly developed a cult following for their innovative live performances. A residency at Sydney's Excelsior Hotel saw the band launch their independently produced DVD, 'Perennial 2009', which quickly sold out.

After landing supports with acts such as Headphones President (JPN), sleepmakeswaves and Laurenz Pike (PVT), and showcasing at the Progfest and Menagerie festivals, the band entered Studios 301 in 2011 with producer Tim Carr (Matt Corby, Serious Beak) to record the debut album 'Something That You Feel Will Find Its Own Form'. Released in April 2012 through Bird's Robe Records, the debut saw local and international airplay, including Triple J, FBi, 4ZZZ, KOOP (USA) and more.

The band toured extensively along the east coast of Australia in 2012 in support of the album with several headlining performances as well as a string of coveted international supports for Rosetta (USA), Earth (USA) and Grails (USA). Their videos for the singles 'Don't Forget To Bring Down The Sky' and 'Inwaking' were also screened on ABC TV's Rage program.

2013 saw Dumbsaint release the ‘The Auteur’ short-film / EP project, which received repeated airplay across FBi, Triple J and 2SER, release it's now sold-out 'Perennial 2013’ DVD, as well as tour with This Will Destroy You (USA), Twelve Foot Ninja and Helm across Australia.

February 2014 saw the band announce an online, 3-part experimental film / soundtrack project, ‘Disappearance In A Minor Role’. This surreal filmic companion piece to ‘The Auteur’, became a bi-monthly​ release​ offering​ thematic and narrative clues into the follow-up to their debut album. The first instalment, ‘III: Celeste’ was released in March, premiering across FBi, 4ZZZ and PBS radio. The second instalment, ‘II: Sara' arrived in May, shortly after their direct support to Russian Circles (USA), and August saw the release of ​'​l: Gabrielle​'​, with it's film premiering on Cvlt Nation. A limited cassette of this release was issued through Grimoire Cassette Cvlture (US), which quickly sold out.

The band entered the studio in October 2014 with producer Dax Liniere (sleepmakeswaves, Solkyri) to record the second album 'Panorama, in ten pieces.'. Mixed by Liniere over a 4 ­month period and mastered in High Dynamic Range by Sean Diggins, the record showcases 55 minutes of their darkest, most challenging music to date.

The first single, ‘Cold Call’, was released on July 3 2015, premiering on Triple J's The Racket, shortly after the band’s direct to support to Boris (JPN). It’s corresponding short-film debuted on Heavy Blog Is Heavy shortly after.

Their second full-length, 'Panorama, in ten pieces.', was released in August and its corresponding 60-minute feature film will arrive in early 2016.
