    Isobutane (SK)

LINKS

Isobutane on MySpace

Martin Krajcir, it is Isobutane is a great fan of analogue devices. The once computer-guru was attracted by contemporary electronic music a few years back, and since then he has created and developed a huge, but basicly traditional technology park only to create his stormy music sets, in which he with a uniqe sense blends together the elements of house, tribal, trance, d'n'b and breakbeat music. His own compositions are mainly featured with refined minimal attitude, while his live performances include heavy beats that make his audience dance. Isobutane is not only engaged in electronica: lately he has been tearing strings with the postrock band named Ills, but nothing can prove his international reputation better than the fact, that his first album was released by the renowned London-based label Sample Oak.

    Lavagance (SK)

LINKS

Lavagance on MySpace

Lavagance – which can already be known by the Budapest audience due to their last year’s performance at the Hangfoglalás festival – is reaching the heights of the indie-charts in Slovakia with the speed of a rocket. Their classic indie-sound is improved by harsh punkish guitars and kicking electronica, so it’s not by any chance, that the five-member band with the released of their first almbum in 2007 titled Orthodox Experience won almost all music awards in Slovakia. Though the sound of Lavagance is typically „British” (since spots of Depeche Mode, Kasabian, Interpol or Franz Ferdinand can be heard), their excellent songs, crystal-clean vocals and typical guitar-sound make them completely unique.

Line up
Marek Rakovicky: vocals, guitar, programming, keyboards
Vincent Susol: bass guitar
Viliam Bujnovsky: keyboards, programming
Marek Gregor: drums
Mario Smashing: guitar

    DJ Tibor Holoda (SK)

LINKS

Tibor Holoda home

Tibor Holoda is the great old master of the Slovak party-scene, who was probably the first to play techno and house on the Bratislava dancefloor. His first-class technique, collection and up-to-date taste in music make him one of the best DJs. Besides playing vynils he is a restless organiser, so his name is connected with the most important ventures of club culture in Slovakia: he was one of the founders of the legendary U Club hosting people in the dungeon underneath the Bratislava Castle. He is the founder of the first independent radio station, the Radio Ragtime, and also the co-founder and organiser of the high-quality Wilsonic festival – this latter’s other co-founder is our festival’s main patron novelist Michal Hvorecky.

    PPE (SK)

LINKS

PPE on MySpace

PPE, it is Puding Pani Elvisovej, when translated comes like Elvis Aunty’s Pudding. The music of this band with a truly funny name really reminds us of Christmas pudding: the five members of the band load all they could find in th last two or three decades on the grounds of pop music into their sound. Due to this harsh funk can be followed by punkish hiphop, just to be followed by an electro-enriched retro-disco, all these featuring rich samples, funny lyrics and an overwhelming stage-attraction. All this can be summed up with a special term: "Eastie Boys", it is they come as the asphalt cowboys of East-Europe.

Line up:
Marcel: guitar

    Isten Háta Mögött

LINKS

IHM

There are few bands in Hungary that are considered by both the audience, fans and  metal experts, art critics as ingenious.  Isten Háta Mögött is one of them. The four-member band with its undefinable music that is closes  to the metal has issued two legendary albums so far full of psychedelia, hard kicking riffs, metal-jazz, guitar-tearing etc. The music by the HM is all but monotonous.

Line up:
Pálinkás Tamás: guitar, vocals
Bokros Csaba: guitar
Egyedi Péter: bass guitar
Hortobágyi László: drums

Albums
Rosenkreutz kémiai menyegzője, 2004
Szokásos hátborzongató kora reggeli ordítás, 2006

    Turbo

LINKS

Turbo on MySpace

Turbo was born in 2005 from the four founding members’ love of rock and roll. The members are known from earlier Hungarian musical enterprises (e.g. Fresh Fabrik, Warpigs, The Carbonfools, Freedom Republic). The goal of the band is to convey a true rock experience and it works accordingly. If the band cannot complete this single mission, it will disband and fade away. By spring 2007 the band completed their first EP christened” Boarman Session”. The tile derives trivially from the name of a small town near Nürnberg where the material had been recorded (Ebermannstadt). During summer 2007 Jero joined the band on bass (ex-Rémember) whose contribution is an additional energy supply. At the beginning of 2008 a new drummer, Delov Jávor arrived. His rock spirit and jazz training are the last refinements on the Turbo formula. During summer 2008 the band recorded their first LP to be released in January 2009.
In January 2009 the Turbo performed at the famous EuroSonic Festival in Groningen.

Line up:
